This time last year I was unemployed, broke, and suicidal.

Today, I just got the keys to my first house.

Give it time.

Needed this today

when you hear people preach that it gets better, they aren’t joking. if it’s not better yet, it will be.

this post could literally be saving lives rn and that is why i love this website.

1. Drink water. You love the rain on your skin, between your fingertips. Let your insides know that.
2. Take deep breaths. Breathe slowly, deliberately, intentionally. It gets oxygen to your brain, which wakes you up and lets you accomplish being great.
3. Eat your breakfast. It doesn’t matter if it’s leftover soup or croissants and brie, just make it happen in your tummy, and make it be something you like.
4. Stretch lots. No, I mean it. Have you ever had a really good stretch? Of course you have. It’s great. Stretching is like meditation for marginally busy people who like sleep and don’t get enough.
5. Take your vitamins. Whatever you call them. Medication, vitamin c, coffee, tea, apple juice from concentrate, muffins from the funny named bakery on the corner. If they make you feel better, take them.
6. Think of yourself like you think of nature. Freckles? Skin stars. Veins? Leafs are pretty and they have veins. Large? You are a thriving roaring ocean. Thin? You are streaks of sunset colors. You are made of nature. Make sure you remember that.
7. Stop concentrating on things you don’t like. That dude was rude to you at the coffeeshop? Forget about it. He’s got his own stuff to deal with. Don’t like someone you know? Stop thinking about them. You focus on your favourite brand of chocolate, the way you look in your favourite jeans, your new pretty lacy bra, your writing, your speaking skills, your art, your favourite t.v. show.
8. Be nice to everyone. It doesn’t mean you let them walk all over you, no no. But be nice, be kind. Don’t be the guy who yells at the waiter. Recognize that everybody has their own stuff to work on.
9. Pet all the dogs and cats and goats you can!!!! This is especially important. See a dog? Pet it. Ask the owner first though. Volunteer at an animal shelter. Cuddle all the kitties and doggies and ferrets and fuzzy things you can.
10. Look at the stars. Recognize them as your ancestors.
11. Water your plants.
12. Sleep on the floor if you want.
13. Treat yourself like you would treat your favourite character.
14. When you dread something, pretend you are an actor playing your part. Make scary things into games. They’re not that scary.
15. Do things with your friends. You like them, they like you, they are the scary things that live in your head and tell you lies.
16. Pour yourself into everything you do. Don’t be afraid of passion, and don’t be scared to look stupid. It’s okay to be yourself.
